EVENT DAY IN BRIEF
.
There are 42 miles of adventure ahead on May 2 when you ride traffic-free through New York City! Join 30,000 cyclists for the largest recreational cycling event in America.
.

Route Highlights: The journey starts in Lower Manhattan. You’ll head north through the heart of Manhattan to Central Park and continue on to historic Harlem and the Bronx, returning south along the East River on FDR Drive. From there you’ll cross into Queens and then Brooklyn, where cyclists take over the Gowanus Expressway before making the thrilling climb up — and down — the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to Staten Island.

.
Rest Areas: Replenish your energy at five areas along the route. Complimentary snacks at each stop include Bonita Bananas, Lärabars, and oranges.
.

Other Services: Entertainment, rider photos, bike repair, Reunion Centers, “SAG” (support and gear) trucks and buses, and medical support are among the amenities available for riders — along with car-free streets, a spectacular route, and the company of 30,000 enthusiastic cyclists and more than 1,500 volunteers.

.
Short Cut: Riders in the rear third of the Tour will be directed to a shortened route that bypasses the Astoria Park rest area and leads directly to the Con Ed Learning Center rest area, a shortcut of 4 miles.
.

Finish Festival: Relax, grab a bite to eat, check out bike-related exhibits, and shop for official Tour gear and other goodies at the Festival on Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.).

Ferrari Offering Hot Laps To Fans At New Jersey to Benefit Children’s Charity

.

Millville, N.J. (August 24, 2009) - On September 18-20, Ferrari North America will provide spectators of their racing series with an opportunity to experience a Ferrari racing adventure “hot lap.”

.

For a minimum donation of $100 to After-School All-Stars (ASAS), a national nonprofit that provides after-school programs to middle school youth, spectators can ride as a passenger in one of the racing Ferraris while a professional driver speeds around the 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway at New Jersey Motorsports Park, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
.
Fans will sign up for the rides at the race track on the event days.
.
The Ferrari Challenge is a racing series designed to allow Ferrari owners to compete with one another on some of the world’s greatest racing tracks.  New Jersey Motorsports Park is the last stop in this six-race series and will also be the last opportunity for spectators to purchase hot laps until next season.
